Free Instrumental Maker

Instrumental Maker.
Keep the Band, Lose the Voice

Drop in a song and the vocals come out while everything else stays: drums, bass, guitar and piano, each on its own fader. Mute one more part and you have a backing track for your own instrument, not just a karaoke file. Free, no account.

An instrumental maker with the whole band on faders

One Step, Not Four

Mute the vocal stem and you have the instrumental. There is nothing to configure and no model to pick. The same split puts every other part on its own fader.

Instrumental Plus

Most instrumental makers hand you one file. Here you can also take out the guitar, bass, drums or piano from the same song, which gives you a backing track for your own instrument, not only a version to sing over.

Full-Quality Export

Export the instrumental as a 24-bit WAV at your song's own sample rate, with no re-compression and no watermark, ready for a DAW, a rehearsal or a live set.

A Cappella From the Same Split

Solo the vocal stem instead and you have the a cappella. One separation gives you both, so there is no second upload.

How it works

Step 1

Drop in the song

MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A, up to 10 minutes and 50 MB.

Step 2

Mute the vocals

The band keeps playing. Pull down or lift any other part to taste.

Step 3

Export the instrumental

Bounce a 24-bit WAV, or just play along in the browser.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make an instrumental from a song?

Upload the song, wait for the separation, usually a few minutes, and mute the vocal channel. What is left is the instrumental. Export it as a WAV when it sounds right.

Is this instrumental maker free?

Yes. Free use is two songs a day per person, with no account, no email and no watermark. The cap resets every day because the separation runs on paid GPUs.

Will I still hear the vocals?

Sometimes a faint trace. Reverb tails and instruments that share the singer's frequencies mean every vocal remover leaves a little behind. It sits far below the band and is easy to sing over. A clean studio source gives a cleaner result than a low-bitrate MP3.

Are backing vocals removed too?

Lead and backing vocals land in the same vocal stem, so muting it removes them together. They cannot be split from each other here.

Is it the same as an official instrumental version?

No. An official instrumental is mixed from the original multitrack session. This one is estimated from the finished stereo mix, so it is a practical stand-in for practice and backing tracks, not a studio copy.

What file do I need?

An audio file of the song: MP3, WAV, FLAC or M4A, up to 10 minutes and 50 MB. The better the source quality, the cleaner the instrumental.

Can I use the instrumental for a performance or a release?

For practice and personal use there is nothing to worry about. Performing or releasing a track built on someone else's recording is a licensing question about the song, exactly as it would be with any other instrumental, and making the file does not change who owns it.

Using the instrumental on stage? Add a count-in

An instrumental drops you into the song with no cue: the voice that used to set the entry is gone. CountIn, our sibling tool, bakes a count-in that ends exactly on beat one into the file, and can change the key in semitones with the tempo untouched, so the instrumental plays from any phone or playback app ready for the stage.
